In order to be able to pay a reinstatement fee, do I have to pay all of my outstanding photo, parking, and moving violations?
Absolutely. All stops on your record must be paid in order to reinstate or restore your driver’s license and driving privileges.

What if I have a stop on the National Driver Registry?
If you have a stop on the National Driver Registry, you must reinstate your driver’s license/driving privileges in the state that entered the stop. A reinstatement will update the Registry and clear the stop for tickets issued in Washington, DC. The update will take place within 24 to 72 hours after the reinstatement fee is paid.

Other than traffic ticket points how can a license be suspended?
1. If you fail to pay child support
2. Outstanding traffic tickets if not contested and not paid after 30 days
3. Major violations such as DUI, DWI, or reckless driving

What are good points?
For every entire calendar year that you are not assessed a moving violation and have a valid DC driver's license, you get one safe driving point. You can use the good points to offset existing or new moving violation points. These points expire in five years.
